AlgoRhythmics
A financial derivative is an abstraction of another derivative that is a claim on future cash flows of a company that employs people who need food grown from soil fed by rain that no one in the chain has ever seen.
Four layers of abstraction. Each one compresses, accelerates, and distances you from the thing itself.
You sit in front of six screens. Your system has just identified a mispricing in the options chain. It will be gone in ninety seconds. The algorithm fires. Delta-hedged. Risk-neutral. Clean.
Optimisation works.
But somewhere between the third espresso and the closing bell, a thought:
The sharper the objective function, the more invisible everything outside it becomes.
A nurse knows what a frightened patient needs, but the dashboard measures something else. A farmer knows his soil is thinning, but the contract measures yield. Ten boats fish towards collapse because no objective function includes the fish.
In every case the system works exactly as designed. In every case something that matters is outside the frame.
The word for what's missing is context.
Sixteen chapters. Twelve dialogues. One argument.
A carer who has worked eleven years in a care home. Thirty-seven residents known by name. None of it fits in the system.

Get the Context File
A prompt you paste into ChatGPT, Claude, or any AI assistant. It makes the system think wider before it answers.

Read from the beginning
Each dialogue is a story; the chapter that follows is the theory. Paired like Hofstadter's Gödel, Escher, Bach.
